Give your child the tools to thrive on and off the mats. Crown BJJ is Bluffdale's top-rated academy for children's jiu jitsu—providing a safe, structured environment where kids build real confidence, develop discipline, and learn skills that matter. Serving families from Bluffdale, Riverton, Draper, Herriman, and South Jordan.
Crown BJJ offers comprehensive youth martial arts instruction that goes beyond physical techniques. While many families search for "kids martial arts near me," what they really want is a program that develops their child's character, builds genuine confidence, and teaches practical life skills. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art focused on leverage and control rather than strikes—making it ideal for children of all sizes and temperaments. Whether you're looking for after-school martial arts in Bluffdale or a structured weekend activity, our program provides the guidance and structure children need to thrive.
The program meets kids exactly where they are. Whether your child is naturally athletic or still working on coordination, shy or outgoing, we've created age-appropriate classes that help them succeed. Each age group learns at the right pace with instructors who specialize in teaching children.

The children's BJJ curriculum goes beyond just teaching moves. We're developing confident, respectful young people who know how to handle themselves.

Enrolling your child in our BJJ program is an investment in their holistic development.
For their trial class, your child can wear comfortable athletic clothing. Once they join, they will need a traditional BJJ gi for most classes and a rashguard/shorts for No-Gi sessions.
We require all students to practice good hygiene, including provide trial gear for gi or no gi classes.
For the free trial, comfortable athletic clothing is all they need—a t-shirt and shorts or athletic pants work perfectly. We provide loaner gear so your child can experience training before you purchase anything.
Once they join, you'll need a traditional gi for regular classes (available in our pro shop with sizing help from our staff), a rash guard and shorts for no-gi sessions, and a water bottle. All students practice good hygiene—nails trimmed, clean gi, and showering before class. We maintain the facility with daily UV and ozone sanitation to ensure a clean, safe training environment.
Enrolling your child in our program means investing in their complete development. Here's what families from Riverton, Draper, and Herriman tell us they've noticed:
Teachers often reach out to tell parents they've seen improvements in attention span and ability to follow multi-step directions. The discipline learned on the mats transfers directly to the classroom.
Kids learn to set boundaries verbally and protect themselves physically only as a last resort. We've had numerous parents share stories of their child successfully de-escalating situations using what they learned here.
The respect and teamwork required in training creates strong bonds. Many of our students' closest friendships started on the mats, and families from South Jordan to Bluffdale have connected through our program.
No more struggling to get your child to practice. Kids look forward to class and ask when the next one is.
The coaches are patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in each child's progress. They know every student by name and celebrate their growth.
You'll meet other parents who prioritize their children's character development alongside physical fitness. The parent viewing lounge often turns into a support network.
When selecting a youth martial arts program in Bluffdale, parents want to know what makes one academy different from another. Here's what sets Crown BJJ apart:
Your child will join an age-appropriate group where they'll start with a simple warm-up, watch the instructor demonstrate a technique, and practice it with a partner. The coaches specialize in making first-timers feel comfortable—many of the current students were nervous on day one. We never require live sparring for beginners; everything is cooperative and controlled.
Plan to arrive 10 minutes before class starts. This gives your child time to meet their instructor, see the facility, and ease into the environment. For shy children, this extra buffer makes a significant difference in their comfort level.
These are actually the kids who often benefit most. We've worked with hundreds of children who started out hesitant or easily distracted. The structure of training—clear expectations, immediate feedback, and consistent routines—helps kids develop focus naturally. Many parents from Draper and Herriman have shared that they saw changes in their child's confidence and attention span within the first month.
Yes. Our parent viewing lounge has comfortable seating where you can watch every class. You'll see your child's progress firsthand and often connect with other parents who share your values around discipline and character development.
No. Most of our students train purely for fitness, confidence, and life skills. For those interested in testing their abilities, we offer optional tournament preparation through our competition track. Every child progresses at their own pace regardless of whether they compete.

"My daughter's confidence has soared since she started at Crown BJJ. The instructors are amazing with kids, and the environment is so positive and clean."
